Can someone please tell me the major difference between the kenwood ts570s and the sg models....I am aware of the D and S difference but have never heard the difference in the s and sg..Thanks in advance

Hiya Marty! 
The D and DG versions were HF only, whereas the S and SG versions were HF+6m.
The G versions of both models were just upgrades.
To quote from a Kenwood flyer:
"The G series represents the latest advancements in HF radio design from Kenwood, and is even available as an upgrade to pre-existing TS-570 units".
